Alice Gu
Los Angeles filmmaker Alice Gu is an award-winning director and cinematographer whose acclaimed 2020 documentary The Donut King took home top prizes at SXSW, Sun Valley, Bentonville and Urbanworld festivals and was picked up for worldwide distribution by Greenwich Entertainment, Vice, Sky UK, Madman and other streaming platforms. Alice began her career as a cinematographer, working with renowned directors Werner Herzog, Stacy Peralta and Rory Kennedy, shooting Kennedy's 2017 Sundance film Take Every Wave: The Life of Laird Hamilton. She also has directed commercial and print campaigns for Microsoft, Billabong, Beats by Dre, ESPN, Apple and humanitarian aid organization Waves for Water, and has worked with agencies TBWA/Chiat/Day, Media Arts Lab, Deutsche and Publicis.
